Igniting Violet and Valor

Women are life givers who nourish families and communities with their grace, strength, hope and intercession. Each woman has multiple stories to tell that exemplify this and that show God’s grace and glory.

One day I had a thought…what if there was a space where these stories could be told…

A space where women could find and read the stories of other women and, through these stories, witness how God is moving through their lives. A space that shows the power and grace of God through the stories we all have to tell.

And not only that, but what if in this space you could find and connect with other women who have been through something you are currently going through? A space where you could type in a topic that is on your mind and find stories from other women on those topics and be inspired to read how God is moving through their lives and helping them through the same journey you are going through.

Moreover, what if… an entire generation of young women had a magazine to read that helped them see how God is speaking to and transforming the lives of women as an example of how he can do that for them too?

All of these thoughts crossed my mind when God woke me up in the middle of the night and gave me the name and vision for this space. The name he gave me was Violet and Valor.

Violet Represents….

Spiritual Wisdom

Spiritually, violets symbolize wisdom and intuition. This is representative of how the Holy Spirit guides our intuition and gives us the gift of wisdom.

(Colossians 2:3, Proverbs 2:6, Proverbs 16:16, James 3:17)

Faithfulness

As a perennial plant, violets return year after year and thus represent faithfulness, steadfastness and loyalty. This is a representation of God’s unchanging character and steadfast love. It also represents our unwavering faith and commitment to God, even in the face of trials.

(Deuteronomy 7:9, 1 Corinthians 1:9, Revelations 2:10, 1 Corinthians 4:2)

Royalty and Authority

As daughters of the King, we are adopted into royalty through faith in Jesus and have divine authority in Christ to overcome the enemy

(Psalm 45:13, 1 Peter 2:9, Luke 10:19, Isaiah 62:3)

Salvation

as a blend of red (Christs blood) and blue (heaven), violet represents the journey from sin to redemption and how through Christ we have access to the Holy Spirit and to Heaven.

(John 316,  1 Peter 2:24, Romans 5:8, Galatians 2:20)

VALOR means great courage and bravery in battle in body, heart, mind and spirit. Valor involves strength of character (mentally and spiritually) and a willingness to stand up for what is right against opposition. The latin word for valor means worth. The Hebrew word for valor (chayil) means strength. This is representative of our worth and strength in Christ.

Valor as Believers…

Five ways believers are called to use valor….

  1. Living without fear (John 14:27, 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 31:24)
  2. Courage against the enemy (Ephesians 6: 10-18)
  3. Bravery against wordly adversaries (Psalm 27:1) (Joshua 10:25) (Matthew 10:28)
  4. Courage to share the good news (Ezekiel 2:6) (2 Timothy 1:8) (Acts 4:13)
  5. Courage to fulfill your assignment (Joshua 1:6-7) (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Whenever you feel afraid in any circumstance remember God’s promise to His people (Isaiah 41:10)

Women of Valor

The Proverbs 31 woman is called eishet chayil, or woman of valor.

She is described as a warrior who battles hardships and challenges with strength and dignity and who is capable of triumph.

She overcomes fear to face the future with courage (Proverbs 31:25)

Much like the Proverbs 31 woman, women of every home and community around the world are also facing battles each day (mentally, emotionally and physically).

From the beginning, the enemy has been going after women. The enemy knows that through attacking women he can attack marriages, families and communities.

Our world needs women who are both tough and tender and filled with both strength and gentleness, or violet and valor.

What to expect from this space

Testimonies and stories often exhibit these elements (spiritual wisdom, faithfulness, authority, valor) and this is a ministry designed to share the stories of women that show all of these and more while connecting real life events with scripture and spiritual wisdom.

From this platform you can expect to see stories from women on a wide variety of topics including motherhood, hardships, victories, grief, overcoming, the joy in day to day experiences and so much more!

All of these stories have a similar mission – to inspire, uplift and strengthen other women while exemplifying what God is doing in our lives and testifying to others the power of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit.

It is also part of the mission of Violet and Valor to honor your story and give it a place to reside so that when you come across someone on the street or are standing in line in a coffee shop and conversation strikes, you don’t have to feel overwhelmed by bringing up your entire story then and there. You can simply give someone a link so they can read your story on their own time, or even so that YOU can go back and read your own story on your own time and remember what God has done in your life.

All of that being said, women don’t need another magazine that tells them how to be skinnier or which designer brands to buy. Women don’t need more plastic surgery or competitive energy. Women don’t need another stressful headline. Women NEED inspiration and encouragement, the kind that comes from Christ. Women need the stories of other women and to witness how God is moving through those stories.
