Never underestimate the importance and power that your testimony holds.
We all have unique and powerful testimonies. When we share them they spotlight God’s glory and grace and can help to inspire and transform the lives of others.
Lets break down 5 big elements that elaborate on the importance of your testimony.
- Testimonies are a Gift from God
The testimonies God has given us are gifts meant to be shared to help others find and realize faith and joy in Christ.
2. Testimonies are Powerful
Many times we spend years going through what becomes a testimony and all of the time God spent working through that testimony has the power to help others.
3. Testimonies are a Spiritual Weapon
Revelations 12:11 says “Believers overcome their adversary by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony”
4. Testimonies are Irrefutable
A personal testimony of what God has done in your life cannot be debated or disproven by others.
5. Testimonies are a Command from God
God commands believers to share our testimonies. When we don’t share our testimony we are in disobedience. (Mark 5:19, Psalm 107:2)
Examples of the power of testimony through the stories of women in the Bible:
The woman at the well (John 4:39-42)
Her testimony of her encounter with Jesus led many others to believe.
Her story shows us the power of sharing your encounter with Christ and how it can help others believe.
The Woman who Bled (Luke 8:43-48)
A woman who was suffering from chronic bleeding for 12 years touched Jesus’ robe believing doing so would heal her, and it did.
Her testimony shows us the power of faith.
The Testimony of Hannah (1 Samuel 1&2)
Hannah struggled with fertility and fervently prayed and was blessed with a son (Samuel) and then later 5 more children.
Hannah’s testimony shows us the power of fervent prayer.
The Testimony of Deborah (Judges 4 and 5)
Deborah used her discernment and reliance on God to lead Israel out of Canaanite oppression. She was led by faith and her call to action brought peace to her nation.
Deborah’s testimony shows us the power of wisdom.
The Testimony of Mary (Luke 1:26-38)
The virgin Mary was told by the angel Gabriel that she would conceive Jesus by the Holy Spirit. Mary accepts and declares herself the Lord’s servant.
Her story shows us the importance of surrendering to God’s will regardless of how it looks to the outside world or whether or not it makes sense to you.
The Testimony of Rahab (Joshua 2-6)
Despite her background as a prostitute, Rahab committed herself to God and demonstrated tremendous courage hiding Israelite spies and assisting their escape.
Rahab’s story shows us the power of courage and that anyone can be saved and used by God regardless of their background.
The Testimony of Esther (Book of Esther)
Esther risked her own life to save her people from execution, and fasted for three days before approaching the king.God was working behind the scenes orchestrating a series of events that helped Esther rescue her people, even though he wasn’t mentioned directly in the book.
Her story show us God’s providence in the midst of dire situations and the power of fasting.
The Testimony of Ruth (Book of Ruth)
Ruth was a Moabite widow who abandoned her pagan upringing to venture into a new land to care for her mother-in-law Naomi and began worshipping God. She worked hard in the fields to support herself and Naomi and demonstrated noble character. Her new life led to her marrying Boaz and becoming the great-grandmother of King David.
Ruth’s story shows us how loyalty and faithfulness despite our circumstances leads to God’s provision and blessings.
Just as these women were active participants in God’s plan, so are women today and their testimonies show this, demonstrating unwavering strength and faithfulness even in the face of adversity.
Just as God used these women to save, testify and lead, he is still using the lives of women today to advance the kingdom through the power of testimony.
Your testimony can give others hope and strengthen their faith. Your testimony can show others how God is moving behind the scenes and how the Holy Spirit is moving through us to transform our stories and transform our lives.
Your testimony brings glory to God, strengthens the body of believers and helps bring non-believers to Christ.
Your testimony shows that with God, anything is possible (Luke 1:37)
Your testimony is important. Your testimony is powerful. Your testimony needs to be shared.
